Reflective Art Workshop for ATPF Parents

February 7th, 2019 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Location: Autism Tree Project Foundation Headquarters, Nimitz Boulevard 2845, San Diego, California, United States

We are so excited to provide our first ever Meditative Art Workshop designed specifically for ATPF Parents and their needs! Led by ATPF Volunteer & Sensory Space Designer Evelyng Cohen, parents will be guided in a short meditation that will influence their art (collage, sculpture, etc.) during an extended silent, relaxing creation time. At the end of each session, parents will reflect on their art, its meaning to them, and the therapeutic nature of the creative process.

Evelyng Cohen is a sensory space designer who supports children with special needs as well as their parents through sensory and expressive arts. A pioneer of this work in Nicaragua, Evelyng produced the country’s first ever extended art project exclusively for children with autism which was exhibited in the National Theater. Throughout her life, Evelyng has leveraged art and the creative process as coping mechanisms for her challenges with ADHD and SPD. Her own lifetime of discoveries coupled with inspiration from her previous careers in architecture and childcare inform the work she now does in San Diego, California.
