This program is recognized as the model charity within the USD Athletic Department. This program launched in 2009 with 35 football players. Their passion and commitment to these children's lives has led us to nearly 100% participation from the entire football team of over 95 football players. It is common for families with autism to feel isolated from the San Diego community. This program is a life-line to these children & families with autism because it creates a lasting family and community for our ATPF children.
The USD Toreros football team has been active in autism advocacy in San Diego, mentoring Autism Tree Project Foundation kids, inviting our families to Toreros games/events and raising awareness in the community. The Toreros host Autism Tree Project Foundation families at every home game, where the kids get to cheer on their players during the game and throw and catch footballs with the players post game. Over 900 families have participated, bringing kids with autism together with local athlete role models.
More than 1,200 Autism Tree Project Foundation families served to date!
