USD Baseball & Softball Player Mentor Program

The Autism Tree USD Baseball Player Mentor Program was launched in 2013 and pairs autistic individuals of all ages and their families with University of San Diego Baseball and Softball player mentors for the entire spring season. The USD Softball team proudly joined the beloved program in 2024 at the Annual USD Baseball Mentor Easter Egg Hunt.

Created in partnership with USD Athletics and the USD Baseball Team, and facilitated by Autism Tree Director of USD Athletics Mentor Programs Jon Hickey, this program provides meaningful opportunities for autistic individuals of all ages and families to connect, form lasting friendships, and experience the joy of belonging to the Torero community.

The program encourages confidence, independence, and community engagement by inviting Autism Tree families to attend home games throughout the season and enjoy special one-on-one time with their mentors on the field after the game.
